16 year-old Junior 1000 competitor Tommi Meadows is allowing his 2016 championship campaign to take a back seat, as he has decided to miss the next two rounds of the ultra-competitive rally series in order to focus on his GCSE examinations.
The Clitheroe teenager has enjoyed a consistent season so far – grabbing a podium points haul at round one, followed by a top-5 finish at the following event against strong competition to currently lie second overall in the championship, which takes place across England and Wales.
However, the Proflex Shock Absorbers backed Micra driver will be absent at the next two rallies as he plans to focus on upcoming exams.
‘It’s a bit frustrating to have to take a step back just as we were doing so well’, said Meadows, ‘however, the time off will allow us to look at what can be improved so that we can come back even stronger,’ he added.
Tommi and co-driver Gareth Hooper will return to the stages on the Solway Coast Rally in August, where they hope to continue where they left off.
